For my last blog of the year, I thought I would discuss a subject that Realtors sometimes don’t like to talk about. Their real estate website. It’s like that crappy car you had when you were 16 years old. You know it’s not pretty, and not what you wish you were driving, but it does get you from point A to B. Now that a new year is here, it’s time to learn how to make your real estate website GO in 2018. Stop messing around with a bad online store front and start using one of the most valuable tools you have in real estate. I get it…you don’t know what to do or perhaps you think it costs a lot of money to make it happen. Here are some very simple things you can do, to increase your website rankings and get more eyes to your real estate website in the coming year.
Having a real estate website (that you own) is important, but driving consumer traffic to your site is MORE important. The issue I see with Realtors is that they need help learning how to use their website as the amazing weapon that it can be. One of the keys to making your website effective is to give consumers the ability to find your real estate website…but how? Avoiding the pitfalls many Realtors make with trying to generate website traffic can be the difference in promoting your value and “brand” to a large audience vs a small one. My job is to make sure my clients with Stewart Title don’t make these mistakes. What are they? Here are the 5 reasons why people can’t find your real estate website.
There has been a trend with real estate agents, where they realize that owning their website is important. They are also figuring out that having a self-hosted WordPress website is the way to go. The functionality and SEO features make it a dream for agents looking to obtain ranking on search engines, such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing. As real estate agents are making this transition to WordPress, they have many questions. How do I navigate my website? What is a plugin, and which ones should I install to enhance my site? Don’t fear, these are valid questions, and often the same ones I hear when meeting with real estate agent new to using WordPress as their website platform.
When I hear people talk about websites and getting “Found Online” the word I hear the most is CONTENT. Yes, it is all about content, but I will take it a step further. It is all about Optimized Content. Having good content on your website or blog is great but it has to be properly optimized so that the search engines like Yahoo, Google, and Bing can find it, and then give it rank so when you search in that little box your website appears and someone who is looking for information can click on your site. By far the best platform (in my opinion) is WordPress. WordPress is a content management system that makes it very easy to blog on your website. 48% of the top 100 blogs in the world use WordPress. This site is also built on Word-press. In the Real Estate business it really comes down to marketing. Getting in front of people with your Value Proposition. With so much competition on the Internet for what you do it is very important to have the right SEO plugins for your Real Estate WordPress blog. Here are my personal favorites that I recommend you install for the proper optimization.
