Essential WordPress Plugins for your Website

Word Press PluginsThere has been a trend with real estate agents, where they realize that owning their website is important. They are also figuring out that having a self-hosted WordPress website is the way to go. The functionality and SEO features make it a dream for agents looking to obtain ranking on search engines, such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing. As real estate agents are making this transition to WordPress, they have many questions. How do I navigate my website?  What is a plugin, and which ones should I install to enhance my site?  Don’t fear, these are valid questions, and often the same ones I hear when meeting with real estate agent new to using WordPress as their website platform.

Real Estate Agent Partnerships-DCTitleGuy vs Their TitleGuy

iStock_000058401248SmallReal Estate agent partnerships form constantly. Partnerships with lenders, Title Companies, inspectors, etc. People form these partnerships because they believe by doing so it will improve their business and make their life easier.  Sometimes this is true, other times it is not. This is more true than in the Northern Virginia/Washington DC area. Here “Joint Ventures and MSA’s” (Market Service Agreements) are a large way that many of the Title Companies gain their business. Title Insurance Sales Reps play a different role here to their agent and lender partners. I have been in this area since 2012 and working like mad everyday to overturn how Title Sales people are viewed by real estate agents and mortgage lenders. This brings me to an email I received from a mortgage lender client. *snippet

YouTube Subscribers-Does the Amount you have Matter?

youtube-logoIt is without debate that video in real estate is here to stay.  It is the “new kid on the block” for real estate marketing and agents are jumping on board.  Some faster than others, but as I make my way around Northern Virginia/Washington DC more of the questions I’m receiving center around video.  How do I set up my YouTube Channel? What camera should I use?  How often should I do videos?  What topics should I be discussing in my videos? The list goes on and on. Getting consumers and prospects to your YouTube channel is important, but does the amount of YouTube Subscribers you have matter?  More is better right? Let’s talk about it.

Facebook Ends Organic Search for your Business Page

Facebook Ends Organic SearchNews came out over the last couple days that “Facebook Ends Organic Search” for business pages. Facebook has changed a lot in the last couple years, ever since they became a publicly traded company on Wall St. (NASDAQ: FB).  The main reason is now they are “for profit” and shareholders expect a nice return on their investment.  If you have noticed, or track how many people “Like” your FB business page, you may notice that not everyone who likes your page SEES your posts/content.  The going rate straight from the mouth of Facebook’s marketing department is 16%. Not a lot of viewership, though you work hard to get people to your page.  You can view that information HERE.

MRIS Portals Listings to Zillow-Is this Good for Agents?

MRIS Portals Listings to Zillow-Is this Good for Agents? An agreement has been reached so our local MRIS portals listings to Zillow. How did this happen? For a while now there have been rumblings that Zillow was in trouble. Big Trouble. It all began when a man you may have heard of named Rupert Murdoch, who owns News Corp. purchased a company called Move, which owns ListHub. ListHub is a big company that takes real estate listings from local MLS’s around the country and syndicates them out to various aggregate websites such as Zillow, Trulia, and others. ListHub is actually a direct competitor to Zillow, so now that Rupert Murdoch owns Move, its kind of a weird situation. Now ListHub(Rupert Murcoch)is telling Zillow that in April of this year, when their syndication contract ends they are going to be “cut off” from their listing portal.  Again, BIG trouble for Zillow.  Where will Zillow go for listings and remain alive?

Why Real Estate Agents Lose Business through Social Media

Image converted using ifftoanyReal Estate Agents lose business ALL the time, one way is through their social media channels. The #1 social media channel where real estate agents lose business is Facebook. I’ve learned (the hard way) that it is easy to think that your “friends” and “followers” on social media have the same thoughts and feelings you have.  Thoughts and feelings that range from religion, politics, social issues, and more. It’s also very easy to quickly type up a status or tweet and hit “Send.” We think we are clever because we are letting our friends know what we stand for and why that stance is correct.  Not so fast, doing this over and over can and WILL cost you business and referrals down the road. Here is the bad part…you won’t even know it!  Here are ways real estate agents lose business through social media and how you can prevent from making these mistakes.

3 Ways to Increase SEO for your Real Estate Blog

Creating Real Estate ContentAre you looking to increase SEO for your Real Estate blog?  Of course you are!  Better SEO means the greater likely hood that you will be “found” organically by your ideal client in an online search.  That is the end goal, to have someone who is looking for what we do to find us at the exact time their need is present.  What we DON’T want is to write this amazing blog post that took over an hour and it never gets ranked by a search engine.  If that happened over and over that would discourage your from blogging or posting content.  I hear this again and again from Real Estate agents that post their blogs but get little to zero result.  Learning and knowing ways to increase SEO for your Real Estate blog is important to getting more “eyes to you” and your content, which increases the likely hood of someone filling out a form or calling you for business.  Here are 3 ways to increase the SEO for your Real Estate blog.
