This Google Algorithm Change Could Crush Your Website Visibility

Google Mobile FriendlyWe knew this day would come…the new Google algorithm change, just not exactly sure when.  Well, on Tuesday April 21st Google made a major change to how they rank websites.  Ever since the smartphone and iPad came the norm in our society the trend for online searches has moved away from desktops to mobile devices.  Now, Google is the first search engine (and the largest) to reward websites that have taken the extra step to convert their sites into “Responsive Design.”  This means that they are very mobile friendly and easy to navigate/use for the end user.  What this also does, is penalize websites that have not taken this step. As a real estate agent or mortgage lender, you think you have trouble coming up in Google searches now??  Well, this change could make it even harder.  Let’s talk about this new Google algorithm change, how it affects you, and what you can do to overcome it and remain relevant online.

Essential WordPress Plugins for your Website

Word Press PluginsThere has been a trend with real estate agents, where they realize that owning their website is important. They are also figuring out that having a self-hosted WordPress website is the way to go. The functionality and SEO features make it a dream for agents looking to obtain ranking on search engines, such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing. As real estate agents are making this transition to WordPress, they have many questions. How do I navigate my website?  What is a plugin, and which ones should I install to enhance my site?  Don’t fear, these are valid questions, and often the same ones I hear when meeting with real estate agent new to using WordPress as their website platform.

Real Estate Agent Partnerships-DCTitleGuy vs Their TitleGuy

iStock_000058401248SmallReal Estate agent partnerships form constantly. Partnerships with lenders, Title Companies, inspectors, etc. People form these partnerships because they believe by doing so it will improve their business and make their life easier.  Sometimes this is true, other times it is not. This is more true than in the Northern Virginia/Washington DC area. Here “Joint Ventures and MSA’s” (Market Service Agreements) are a large way that many of the Title Companies gain their business. Title Insurance Sales Reps play a different role here to their agent and lender partners. I have been in this area since 2012 and working like mad everyday to overturn how Title Sales people are viewed by real estate agents and mortgage lenders. This brings me to an email I received from a mortgage lender client. *snippet

Facebook Ends Organic Search for your Business Page

Facebook Ends Organic SearchNews came out over the last couple days that “Facebook Ends Organic Search” for business pages. Facebook has changed a lot in the last couple years, ever since they became a publicly traded company on Wall St. (NASDAQ: FB).  The main reason is now they are “for profit” and shareholders expect a nice return on their investment.  If you have noticed, or track how many people “Like” your FB business page, you may notice that not everyone who likes your page SEES your posts/content.  The going rate straight from the mouth of Facebook’s marketing department is 16%. Not a lot of viewership, though you work hard to get people to your page.  You can view that information HERE.
